Notice of Temporary Traffic Order, Witney, A40 and B4022 (Shores Green/High Cogges)
Speed Limit Reductions
Date of Order: 27 August 2024
Coming into force: 2 February 2025
This Order is introduced because of construction of 2 new west-facing slip roads which are anticipated to be completed 31 March 2026
The effect of the Order is to temporarily reduce the 70mph speed limit to 50 mph on the following lengths of road:
1. A40 Eastbound carriageway – from a point 500 metres west of Stanton Harcourt Overbridge, eastwards to a point 100 metres east of the B4022 under bridge, a distance of approximately 2 kilometres.
2. A40 Westbound – from Hill Farm Overbridge westwards to a point 200 metres east of Stanton Harcourt Overbridge, a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometres.
3. The order will also reduce the national 60 mph limit to 30 mph on the B4022 (slip road off the A40 westbound) from the junction with South Leigh Road to the 20mph limit at the junction with Jubilee Way traffic lights; and also on the eastbound A40 slip road for 100 metres.
Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
