Christmas Sponsorship – A Big Festive Thank You!

As we head into the festive period Witney Town Council would like to thank local businesses for their generous support of the town’s Christmas lights display.

The Corn Exchange Tree has been sponsored by H & OB Builders and the tree at the Buttercross, and the Children’s Light are both sponsored by Estate and Lettings Agents, Scott Fraser.

Their contributions have provided cheerful and eye-catching focal points amid the main display. The involvement of our sponsors underscores the importance of community partnership and the shared commitment to enhancing the festive experience.

Within the Town Council’s tender for the new Witney Christmas Lights contract, Officers included a Social Value section to give applicants the opportunity to provide added value to the community. The successful contractor LITE Ltd have committed to donate £1,000 each year to a fund to be apportioned by the Council. This year the money has been split four ways to offer support to different community initiatives.

Methodist Church:  Witney Community Meal

Known for their unwavering commitment to providing hot meals to the underprivileged and socially isolated, the Methodist Church will use the funding to provide additional hot meals. This initiative plays a crucial role in supporting the well-being of vulnerable individuals in our town. Everyone is welcome and anyone can benefit from the meals.

Witney Food Revolution:
This innovative project is dedicated to reducing food waste while ensuring that nutritious meals reach those in need. The funds will aid in expanding their capacity to serve more families, thereby fostering a more sustainable and equitable community.

Witney Food Bank:
As a pillar of support for families and individuals facing food insecurity, the Witney Food Bank will channel the funding towards procuring essential supplies. This ensures that no family in our community goes without the nourishment they need during the festive season.

Witney Community Church:
Something Good Campaign. Recognizing the importance of social inclusion, the church hosts an annual gathering for asylum seekers. The funds will assist in organizing a heartwarming event that celebrates diversity and offers a sense of belonging to those who have sought refuge in our community.

Witney Town Council is proud to have worked with its sponsors to make a small but tangible difference and help spread some much-needed cheer. We extend our gratitude to all our sponsors and those who volunteer in the community who have contributed to making these initiatives possible and wish everyone a joyful and peaceful holiday season
